The Challenge: Bring the kitchen to life using only a few new elements, and pulling off the whole project for under $500.

The Solution: Introduce new lighting and furniture that won’t cost a lot but will make a huge impact.

Carolyn and Jed’s Kitchen Revamp

Carolyn and Jed just wanted a mini-facelift for this space for not a lot of money. I decided to bring in a few elements that always make a big impact but cost less:

  • We went with a slightly edgy ceiling fixture. In decorating, the kitchen is often a great place to be a little risky and let loose a little!
  • We needed to get rid of the dated yellow walls, so we opted for a barely-there gray called Pale Oak by Benjamin Moore
  • We opted to let go of the traditional, boring dark wood table and bring in something fresh and modern. Enter, IKEA’s Docksta!
  • We kept the wall décor very modern and clean. Black & white family photos are often the perfect design solution in a kitchen
