Gali and Mark’s New Living Room

< Back to Portfolio

The Challenge: Use affordable elements wherever possible, but keep the décor “high-end” looking to complement the beautiful quality of the house.

The Solution: Pairing high and low elements to disguise the budget pieces and create a high-end look.

Gali and Mark’s New Living Room

Because we were aiming for a high-end look but going budget on some items, I decided to disguise the lower end items (sofa and chairs) by using more visible higher end items (pillows and coffee table).

  • Higher End:
    • Coffee table from Wisteria.com
    • We threw in some expensive designer pillows to give the essence of “high end”
    • Attention-grabbing live edge wood console table from Etsy
    • Gray Malin photo (graymalin.com)
  • Lower End:
    • If you’re looking to cut costs somewhere, I say go cheaper on the sofa! Truthfully, visitors won’t notice the difference between a $900 sofa or a $4,000 one
    • Cheaper rugs (Wayfair.com sea grass rug + discount cowhide)
    • Inexpensive mirror over the mantel (from CB2) saved us a fortune
    • Brass Sea urchins from Target that I spray-painted gold.
