An Easy Fireplace Refresh + A “free decorating” winner!

Excited to show you my latest “Lazy DIY” today!

I really like our fireplace in our living room – the mantel is white and classic and the surround is a black marble.  I don’t know that I would have picked this combo myself, but I have to say it’s perfectly civilized.

The BRASS SCREEN, however, is my nemesis.   It just looks so dated to me.

I thought about just pulling the screen out – but I don’t know how it’s attached to the marble.  What if we rip it out and take pieces of the marble with it?  What a headache.

SO, this past weekend I just picked up my paintbrush, used a heavy duty indoor/outdoor heat resistant paint, and painted that screen black.

Talk about an EASY transformation.  The whole thing looks cleaner and more polished.  Hooray for paint!

And SPEAKING of “Lazy DIY”,  you may recall that I asked for your vote a few weeks back to get me on the Hallmark Channel as a DIY Guest Star.  Well guess what – I’m A FINALIST!  I still can’t believe it.  I’ll be flying out to LA in mid-May and creating “Lazy DIY” projects with the cast of Home & Family, in a bid for the “DIY Star” title.

The best part?  They film on the Universal Studios lot.  How cool is that?!

As a THANK YOU for your help, I offered to give a lucky voter who commented with #LorriDIYStar, a free hour consultation on any decorating problem you choose.   I used an online generator called “random name picker”, and the winner is Campbell Walmsley!  Campbell, congrats!  I’ll reach out to you directly.

Thanks to your votes and support, my dream became a reality.  WOW!  I’m so deeply grateful.

I’ll be sure to share more about my DIY Guest Star adventures in the upcoming weeks.n  Stay tuned!
