Chasing Moondance…My Love Affair with a Fabric
The moment I laid eyes on this fabric pattern I knew I had to have it.
The pretty blue and green colors, the edgy floral pattern, so mid-century Modern…must have!
I first spotted this pattern in designer Thom Filicia’s decor book “Style” – he uses the pattern a few different times in the same book (he obviously had a similar obsession going?).
But there was no mention of the pattern, where it was from and what the heck it was called!
Love him. It’s okay, friend. No hard feelings about Moondance.
It was this “picture of inspiration” that first captured my heart. I literally have been carrying this picture around with me for years.
And after much internet sleuthing, I discovered the pattern’s name was Moondance by Lulu DK, and it is distributed by the good people at Donghia.
I purchased a few yards, had a local seamstress make some pillow covers, and VOILA! Moondance is finally mine.
The pillows go nicely with my Nate Berkus black & white chevron rug from HSN.com, and my CB2 Peekaboo coffee table and CB2 Big Dipper Arc Floor Light.
I noticed that Thom Filicia used natural media (woven sea grass, teak wood) to complement Moondance, so I thought I’d do the same. Scored this Naida chair from Anthropologie, on sale!
Oh Moondance, I love you so. Thank you for making my family room complete.
