5 Easy Holiday Decor Ideas (That Anyone Can Do!)
Hi everyone. Here’s a fun article I wrote for the Huffington Post last week – thought you might want to take a peek. I LOVE brainstorming ideas like this – it’s totally possible to decorate your space by using stuff you either already have, or that is easy to get. Hope you enjoy!
Christmas is just around the corner! Do you want to make your home festive, but you’re low on time (and cash)? Here are a few simple, affordable hacks to get your home holiday-ready.
1) Pile ornaments in bowls.
It doesn’t get any easier than this. Purchase a package of ornaments for a few dollars (at a big box retailer, a drugstore, or a grocery store), and then simply pile them into bowls or vases.
2) Use your own backyard greenery for your mantel.
Don’t worry about buying an expensive garland — simply go outside and clip anything in your yard that’s green. Keep pieces at about 6″ – 12″. And simply pile them on your mantel or in the center of your table.
If you want to “glam” it up a bit, this is a great idea: take an evergreen branch about 12″ long, lay it on your coffee table, and pile ornaments on top.
3) Make Your Home Smell like Christmas.
Are people coming over at the last minute? Dump a few pieces of pine from your Christmas tree and a few cinammon sticks into a pot of water. Simmer on the stove. Your home will smell like “holiday central” within an hour.
4) Create a winter wonderland centerpiece.
Take a few flower vases (you can also use mason jars) and fill them with fairy lights and a few bags of marshmallows. Makes a unique, winter wonderland centerpiece for your table.
(You can find “Fairy lights” for a few bucks on Amazon or in a craft store. They’re battery powered and they never get hot).
5) Make a Cozy Wreath with your Scarf.
Take the cheapest, ugliest wreath you can find (look for one in a drugstore or grocery store), and wrap it in a cozy scarf.
