A Sunny Before & After
I recently completed a living room revamp for a lovely young family – we all loved that it came together easily and quickly!
It helped that the wife had already had the room painted a pretty, light gray – Purbeck Stone from Farrow & Ball – and that the room had gorgeous windows and architectural details.
Here’s a before shot of the room:

We decided to put a bench along that wall for additional seating (we debated putting a console there, but I’m glad we chose the “more seating” option!).
For wall art, we opted for this awesome aerial photo of the Santa Monica Beach boardwalk, a nod to the couples’ Southern California roots.

They also have this fabulous fireplace in the room. But it looked a little blank (read: boring!) to me.
First, we painted the orange tiles in front of the fireplace using “garage paint” (it’s a hearty paint that can withstand “the elements”). Then, we added a large sunburst mirror and painted the wall that is jutting out a bit a darker gray, just to add interest. Because we were already using Farrow & Ball colors, I suggested Dark Pipe. Worked beautifully!
Mirror: Wisteria Nouveau Sunburst Mirror, $399
What I love about these “quick & easy” revamps is that truthfully ANYONE can zhush up their living spaces without breaking the bank. We used readily available items, much of them at a discount. It doesn’t have to take much to completely transform a space.
