Nailed It! Nailhead Trim Makes Everything Better
You may have seen this picture of a stair runner on a recent post of mine :
It got me thinking – doesn’t everything just look better with nailhead trim?
Check out these *amazing* nailhead trim ideas – you name the space, you can apply nailhead trim and achieve design genius.
Nailhead Trim on a Wall
Isn’t this exquisite?? And you can learn how she did it:
This is Carolina Herrera Baez’s Dining Room. Looks like burlap trim – this is a very high-end home but I could see this being a cool DIY project…

Oh I love this. I feel a project coming on…
Nailhead Trim on Beds
I have nailhead trim in my own life! This is one of the better purchases I’ve made for my home. An upholstered, nailhead trimmed headboard from Ballard Designs. Cheaper than a full bed! And it lends that custom look.
Other beautiful beds:
Orange orange orange, I love you forever!!
Nailhead Trim on Furniture
This is a brilliant IKEA hack. Covered in fabric and trimmed in nailhead. You know how much I love those IKEA hacks! I’m almost in tears I’m so excited.
Another DIY idea! Trim a plain desk in ribbon and nailheads. Oh my, seems relatively easy and what a fabulous addition. Takes your boring desk up a notch.
This is a plain console that got new life from a coat of paint and a bunch of closely aligned nailheads.
Nailhead Trim on Seating
Holy red couch! Just beautiful.
Hey what about getting one of those neutral arm chairs from a place like Overstock and adding a ribbon with nailhead trim? What an incredible, budget friendly idea…
I just purchased these x benches for our family room and when they arrived I was delighted at how shiny the nailheads were. Really keeps my room feeling “modern”.
By the way, I had my design assistant add and remove pillows for me while I snapped some photos. He LOVES decorating with me and is such a good little helper. Sweet boy.
But wait, there’s more!

October 26, 2015 at 6:24 PMHi Mimi! Try Amazon.com, eBay.com or Etsy. If you want nailhead trim that looks just like the stuff I used, you’ll want to search for 10MM studs, in an antique brass finish. Oh! And make sure you keyword search “Pyramid” shape nailheads, as there are a lot of shapes. Good luck!

January 26, 2016 at 10:59 AMHi Chelsea – the short answer is “YES”. you can put nail head trim on literally almost anything. You might need to super glue it to the leather, and just know that the trim might pop off if kids are jumping all over the furniture, etc. BUT, let’s say you’re going to use the trim for a leather chair that’s in a corner in your living room and it doesn’t get used all that often – I think that would be a perfect use. Anything more heavy duty you might want to think twice. Good luck!!
